ORANGE PARK -- An Orange Park man is dead following a stabbing Tuesday, March 9, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

Joseph Comley, 33, was found by deputies about 7 p.m. when they responded to a home at 533 Madison Ave. Comley was transported to Orange Park Medical Center where he died from his injuries. Comley was a resident of the home.

Deputies interviewed another man who was at the home assisting another resident when he and Comley got into an argument. Comley struck the man multiple times as he attempted to leave. The man responded by stabbing Comley with a pocket knife, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The other man was interviewed by deputies Tuesday night but has not been arrested, the Sheriff’s Office said.

An autopsy will be conducted today on the victim and the investigation is ongoing.

The victim’s home was also the location of a reported domestic battery incident March 8 involving residents of the home, the Sheriff’s Office said. But it’s unclear if that was related to the stabbing incident.

Well if it's like any other domestic vioylence story the man that was killed was abusing someone in the home, the guy that did the stabbing was either a new boyfriend or family member trying to get the abused person out and got caught up in the middle. And now that poor schmuck will get railroaded for killing the abuser. Sounds like justice at it's finest. The same justice that let's pediphiles go free after a smack on the hand and told to make sure they register and keep in touch. Ah what a world we live in.

You have no idea what you are talking about "Aggravated" The victim for one has a name "Joseph" and he was not the abuser in this case so get your facts before you go run your mouth.

Joe was not an abuser in anyway. Does anyone know anything about the services? His family is in my thoughts. I have known Joe for years, and I just saw his family and him.

the above story is true take it from someone that was there and seen it.. I dont understand how he wasnt abusive but he picked the owner of the home and threw her to the ground. All the reports match and the jury will see the truth and not the lies on this board.

and yet his wife beats her own mother in front of her own child. someone needs to take the baby from her before the kid grows up and is just as abusive as her mother i dont know how many times the cops were called. JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED RIGHTLY IN THIS CASE.

Regardless of whatever personal feelings you had toward the victim he was still a human being who was a son, father and a friend. What happened to respect for the dead? I believe justice is being served in this case because the suspect is in jail awaiting trial. No matter what happened in that house, if Joe did hit him first, it is still not self-defense to stab a person who is unarmed. I did know Joe and he was a great friend and I hope he finds peace watching over his friends and family.

Brandon Hand is a good man and I know he never would do anything like this. My prayers go out to the other family in this case. Respect the dead yes.. but in this case he was the victim.

Sounds to me like self defense. I knew Brandon and if he would have been hit in a certain area he would have been paralyzed or worse.

I know both of them. In this case they are both guilty of doing something wrong. Now the families and friends are left to deal with the pain and a small child will grow up without a father. There is no justice in this story. One is dead and the other will spend his life in prison. It is a very sad situation!
